Bridgerton fans may have to wait until 2026 for the show’s fourth season to arrive on Netflix, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t exciting updates along the way.
In fact, on Friday, February 14th—coincidentally Valentine’s Day—Netflix and Shondaland organized a special fan event called Season of Love. Held in London, the event featured a Q&A session moderated by Queen Charlotte star Golda Rosheuvel. Among the guests were showrunner Jess Brownell, Luke Thompson (who plays Benedict Bridgerton), and Yerin Ha, the newest female lead who portrays Sophie Baek.
During the discussion, Thompson was asked whether he had reached out to the previous male leads of the series—Regé-Jean Page, Jonathan Bailey, and Luke Newton—for guidance on stepping into the role.
“I considered it,” he admitted, as reported by People. “I really did think about asking, but then I decided not to. I wanted to experience it on my own terms—to discover how it feels for me personally.”
A Unique Approach to Every Season
He went on to say, “Honestly, someone could write an incredible book about how each actor has approached this role because it’s such a personal experience. It reveals a lot about the person playing it, and that’s what makes the show special. Every season brings a new perspective.”
Yerin Ha shared a similar viewpoint, explaining that she also preferred to navigate the experience independently. “I wanted to go through this journey on my own and figure things out for myself,” she said.
Guidance from Past Leading Ladies
Although Ha chose to carve her own path, she still maintained connections with some of Bridgerton’s previous leading ladies, including Phoebe Dynevor, Simone Ashley, and Nicola Coughlan. They didn’t offer unsolicited advice but assured her that if she ever needed guidance, they would be happy to help. “They just said, ‘If you need anything, reach out. But don’t be too nervous—the fans are incredible,’” she shared.
Familiar Faces Returning in Season 4
The event also confirmed another exciting update: Simone Ashley will reprise her role as Kate Sharma in the upcoming season. Her on-screen husband, Anthony Bridgerton (played by Jonathan Bailey), had already announced his return last year.
Speaking about the series, Bailey expressed his enthusiasm: “Being part of this show has been an amazing experience. There will be plenty of room for new characters to shine, and Luke and Yerin are going to be fantastic. I’ll always come back to say hello.”
