Sheldon’s Absence in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Can’t Last Forever
In The Big Bang Theory, Georgie’s anger toward Sheldon stemmed from feeling abandoned when his younger brother left for California. However, even though Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage wants to establish its own identity away from Young Sheldon, it can’t keep Sheldon off-screen forever. It makes sense that the spinoff is focusing on Georgie and Mandy’s story at the beginning, but Sheldon’s absence only reinforces Georgie’s resentment toward him.
Young Sheldon’s Thanksgiving Episode Felt Incomplete Without Him
Sheldon’s absence was deeply felt during Young Sheldon’s Thanksgiving episode. The tone was more somber without him there. While the show has revived George Sr. in the spinoff, it’s strange that Sheldon hasn’t made a return to Texas yet. If George Sr. can appear despite his character being canonically deceased, then Sheldon should have already visited his hometown at least once.
With George Sr. back in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Sheldon’s return is inevitable. The show can’t ignore his presence forever, and that might not be a bad thing. The Thanksgiving episode in Young Sheldon showed how much his absence was felt, especially when Missy, Mary, and Georgie visited George Sr.’s grave. Without Sheldon, an important emotional moment was missing.
