VDM Appears in Court in Edo Traditional Attire for Defamation Hearing Against Him by the Falanas (Video)

Today, social critic Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), arrived at the Lagos High Court dressed in traditional Edo attire. His appearance was for the hearing of a defamation lawsuit brought against him by popular rapper Falz and his father, Femi Falana, SAN, on November 14.

Defamation Case Background

The Falanas filed this case after VDM allegedly refused to apologize and take down a video where he made certain remarks about them. In the video, he was analyzing an audio clip allegedly involving Nigerian internet personality Bobrisky and an unknown individual.

In the clip, the person, claimed to be Bobrisky, alleged that Falz had contacted him while he was in prison. Bobrisky also claimed that Falz’s father, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, offered help in securing a presidential pardon for him. Additionally, the individual in the clip alleged that he paid a sum of N10 million to a certain Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) for assistance with this pardon.

VDM shared his surprise in the video about any possible connection between the Falanas and Bobrisky. He questioned, “Abi Falz dey do?” which led some viewers to interpret his statement as questioning Falz’s sexuality. Many felt this question could have cast Falz in a negative light, sparking more controversy.

Due to the impact of these comments, the Falanas decided to take legal action. They requested that VDM apologize and remove the video. However, after VDM’s alleged refusal, they proceeded with the defamation lawsuit.
