World Leaders Congratulate Trump on Claiming US Election Victory

World leaders congratulates  Donald Trump as he declared victory in the US presidential election over Kamala Harris, and global financial markets saw positive gains.

Here are some initial reactions, though the official results of the presidential election have yet to be confirmed:

Israel

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Trump’s victory, calling it a “historic comeback” for the former US president and a fresh start for US-Israel relations.

“Congratulations on one of history’s greatest comebacks! Your return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and renews the strong alliance between Israel and the United States. This is a significant win!” said Netanyahu in an official statement.

China

As election results began to lean in Trump’s favor, China expressed hope for a “peaceful coexistence” with the US.

“We will continue to manage China-US relations on the basis of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and cooperative gains,” said Mao Ning, spokeswoman for China’s foreign ministry, in a routine press briefing.

“We respect the choice made by the American people.”

France

French President Emmanuel Macron offered congratulations to “President Donald Trump,” affirming his readiness to work alongside him “with respect and ambition,” as they did in the past.

Macron shared on X that his relationship with Trump, the current front-runner in the US vote, would consider “both your beliefs and mine,” adding, “For more peace and prosperity.”

Ukraine

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Trump on his “remarkable victory” and expressed hope that Trump’s presidency would help bring “a fair peace in Ukraine closer.”

“I appreciate President Trump’s dedication to the ‘peace through strength’ strategy in international matters. This approach is what can realistically bring just peace in Ukraine nearer,” Zelensky stated on social media.

NATO

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte congratulated Trump, saying his leadership would help maintain the alliance’s strength.

“His leadership will once again be crucial for keeping our Alliance robust. I look forward to working with him to promote peace through strength with NATO,” Rutte said in a statement.

India

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Trump’s “election victory” with a congratulatory message.

“Heartiest congratulations, my friend @realDonaldTrump, on your historic victory,” Modi wrote on the social platform X. “As you build on the successes from your previous term, I look forward to renewing our partnership.”

Financial Markets

The financial markets reacted positively, with the dollar rising, bitcoin hitting record highs, and European stocks climbing.

Trump has committed to turning the United States into a “global center for bitcoin and cryptocurrency” and proposed putting tech mogul Elon Musk in charge of a comprehensive government audit to reduce waste.

“The markets are still trying to figure out what comes next, but for now, they’re factoring in expectations of higher growth and inflation,” said economist Peter Esho, founder of Esho Capital.
